2015 Art on the Avenue is Happening Saturday October 10 in Del Ray
Oops! Thanks to Hurricane Joaquin a state of emergency in Alexandria has shut down Art on the Avenue for the first time in 20 years! Luckily it will all resume on Saturday October 10 and we promise it will be a beautiful day!
Join over 50,000 visitors on Saturday, October 3rd for the 20th Anniversary of Art on the Avenue in Del Ray.
Art on the Avenue is a multi-cultural arts festival that stretches along eight blocks on Mt. Vernon Avenue and celebrates over 300 artists from diverse fields. Add in musicians, food vendors and children’s activities and you’ll spend the day wondering how you ever missed out before!
Artists include silversmiths and beaders, woodworkers, potters, soap craters, glass makers, unique painters, fabric artists, sculptors, photographers, etc.
Food vendors include offerings from Mt. Vernon’s own fabulous restaurants plus specialties like home made cider donuts and chocolate bananas on a stick.
And for the kids? Think stuffing your own scarecrow, painting pumpkins, weaving screen art. Really, there is just something for everyone.
Michael and I will be doing our usual volunteer shift at 6am as we get everyone set up and ready for the day. Then we’ll stop at our favorite Del Ray Cafe for coffee and fresh, authentic chocolate croissants before heading back into the fray to find something new for the house!
Hope you’ll join us – it’s happening rain or shine.
